We aren't open yet, but we will be soon! On this page you will see plans for our new museum and a timeline for its anticipated opening. Check here for regular updates.
Latest update, as of November26: The reconstruction of the old building is done. The celebration for the opening of the library took place on Saturday, November 23, and was a huge success, with around 300 people in attendance! We were part of that celebration and conducted tours of the new History Center on that day. We are now in the process of moving in and setting up displays. We plan to open to the public some time in January, 2020. Stay tuned for details.
By the way, the new name for the building is The Nancy Fahden House. Nancy Fahden was the first woman supervisor in CC County, and she used this building as her office for a time. It seemed a fitting tribute to honor Nancy as one of the "firsts" in our county.
The new ESHS museum will be housed in the old Community building, located behind the library. The entrance to the museum will be at the far right of the building. We are nicely situated in the new community park, and will have ready access to the park space to hold society events.
Below is a rough floor plan of the building, showing the proposed museum space in orange. The green space will be a storage space to be shared with the Friends of the Library.
One of the rooms that will be used by the Historical Society. The work is almost done, and we are hoping to move in some time in late October, 2019.
